How do you decide which skincare product is worth buying?

  1. i look at the ingredients and needs of my skin. 1% vitamin c serum isn’t going to do shit for example. or if you’re acne prone, products high in lipids aren’t your friend.

it’s simple. talk to a dermatologist if you aren’t sure about your needs and don’t buy into trends and fancy packaging. also don’t overdo it. your skin is doing awesome af on it’s own, if you don’t suffer from a condition like dermatitis or rosacea etc. no need to fix what isn’t broken.

  2. I used to buy quite randomly just based on reviews or what I saw in the shops. But I started learning more about skincare and understanding the ingredients and what actually does what. I took a better look at my skin and identified specific issues I wanted to tackle (sebaceous filaments on my nose and closed comedones on my forehead). I then bought specific products to tackle those issues and built my skincare routine around that. A bit of trial and error for my skin type.

My routine is super simple now. Cleanser, salicylic acid/ niacinamide (alternating days), daytime moisturizer with SPF/night time moisturizer. A salicylic acid clay mask once a week. Products are Paula’s Choice and The Ordinary.

  3. Ask to try samples if possible. And look into what your exact complexion type is so you can get the closest match possible to what your skin needs.

  4. Reviews, research, and samples/trial sizes when I can get them. Reviews: do other people like it, especially if they seem to have the same skin concerns as me? Research: does this product/ingredient have actual evidence behind it’s claims? Samples: does it work for me personally?
