Who is the most underrated american athlete of all time?

  1. Me. You should have seen that tackle I had in high school football. But where’s my plaque? Where’s my 30 for 30 documentary, ESPN?

  2. Most people don’t care about ballet, but god the athleticism is ridiculous. One of my favorites you wouldn’t know about unless you REALLY love ballet is Skylar Brandt. [Watch this video](https://www.instagram.com/reel/CBjOzEaHyQG/?hl=en), it’s insane. All the little micromovements her muscles are doing to get her to move plus being able to keep herself up on pointe without wobbling around – my abs hurt thinking about it. It shouldn’t be physically possible.

  3. Can I make the case for Dick Fosbury? RIP. ‘68 gold medalist and changed the sport of high jump with his back first jump, now known as the Fosbury flop.

  4. Dan Gable. Very few people outside of the wrestling world have ever heard of him.

Probably one of the most dominant amateur American athletes ever. Of course there’s Simone Biles, Edwin Moses, Michael Phelps etc but they are/were well known.

  5. Bill Russell. He gets respect, but he dominated basketball more than anyone ever. LeBron and Michael included.

Russell won championships in high school, college, and the Olympics. In the NBA, he collected 11 rings in 13 years, the last 2 as a player-coach. His rebounding, defense, and shot-blocking controlled games. He got in opponents’ minds, especially the physically gifted Wilt Chamberlain.

  6. Dennis Rodman

He got plenty of attention but not for what he was good at, which is being the best defensive player to never get a career MVP.
