I’ve now heard two different songs by UK based bands that reference eating mayonnaise while baked. First time I heard it I thought “okay, sure, people eat strange stuff when high, why not”. Then recently I heard another song that mentions it and thought “well this is getting out of hand”. So what’s up with eating mayonnaise as a munchie snack? Is it just a common/stereotypical stoner thing in the UK? Is it slang for something else? Am I just overthinking this?

Gonna guess it’s more it’s something most people have in the house and nobody would ever eat by itself unless they were baked

Two songs *that we know of*. But yeah you’re probably right.
Probably because when you’re stoned you’re hungry. But if you’re too baked you wouldn’t be able to make the effort to cook (or do anything at all, really, although I did used to get a lot of washing up done when I was high). A big jar of mayonnaise would be a good way to eat something without having to put much effort in.
Also, speaking from past experience, being stoned can make you crave things that taste “creamy”, and mayonnaise would probably sate that craving.
