What’s something INCREDIBLY stupid you almost did, but pulled back in the last minute?

  1. When I was 8 I wanted to throw an empty, glass bottle from a 16 story balcony to impress a friend but I chickened out. Years later I realized that there was chance I could have killed someone since there was a busy street just below.

  2. As a kid (9), almost got into a stranger’s car who was offering me a ride. I was lost in my own neighborhood looking for my friend’s home. The guy saw me walking, stopped his car and told me he know that family’s home and was actually on his way there. My gut told me not to, literally as I put one leg in.

I learned later that he was telling the truth lol, he was their relative staying with them for a couple of days. Still it was a dumb thing to consider. Live and learn.

  3. I almost had a baby with someone I didn’t love. I never wanted a child, period.

She had a miscarriage early on. I gave her some time to recover before I told her what I huge mistake it was and we went our separate ways.

I guess I didn’t really back out last second, more like divine intervention.

  4. I almost went to see the wrong car when is was lol for my first car. Found two interesting cars, a White 2010 Volvo V50 1.6D Drive E and a 2006 blue Volvo V50 2.0D.

The 1.6D was more interesting, but I wanted to look at the 2.0D first “because you can’t buy the first car you look at”.

My dad convinced me to look at the 1.6D first and.. I bought it, as we didn’t bring cash, but sign the papers on it, got out to the car a bit bummed out that we weren’t taking it home… and managed to get the funds together from what we had on us..

As we were completing the transaction, a guy called to buy it and was dead set on buying it.

If we had looked at the other car first or just went back home, I like wouldn’t have my V50 1.6D (which I still own).

__Edit:__ it is 614 Ice White and has the Ford MTX75 (5 speed manual) transmission

  5. driving on loose gravel in a relatives driveway. they were helping me back out of a tight space. at one point they were right in front of my car with their back to the stone gate. i stepped on the gas kind of hard because it was stuck, went nowhere. looked down and realized the car was in drive. luckily the angle i was dug in stopped the car jumping forward.

  6. 12 years old, wanted to microwave a DVD to see it spark up, but just as I was about to do it my dad pulled into the driveway several hours early from work.

  7. I almost didnt pursue the career I have now. I am over 16 years in with the company and I LOVE IT.

  8. got a really shitty email from my sort of boss in which he turned down a request and said “they can’t play favourites” with me wanting a raise after a great performance review.

typed out how i really felt about him and decided to not hit send and enjoy my weekend instead.

    i’ll hit send on monday.

  9. Was having a conversation in a Dennys at 3am about how to murder someone. She really needed it. Karma found a way, and she died in a motorcycle accident coming back from Sturgis. No one misses you PJ.

  10. At 6 years of age, I momentarily thought it would be cool to hang on to the rear plow of the tractor plowing snow where I lived, with skis. Thankfully, my tiny six year old brain had enough disaster thinking capacity not to do it.

The guy driving the tractor would have had slim chances of spotting me, and perhaps even more alarmingly, had actually come frighteningly close to simply killing my sister by running her over with that same tractor, going *forwards* with a clear view of sight, which is something to really think about.

  11. Almost bought a new Mustang I couldn’t afford. Fortunately, as a personal policy I refuse to make a big decision like that without sleeping on it first.

  12. Adopted a second child with my ex. I very badly would have loved to have adopted another, but I knew all too well her head was not in the right place for us to be able to properly bring in another kid into the home.

  13. Moving out to live in a shared apartment with a former friend that I no longer want anything to do with.

  14. Went out to a bar alone (had just gotten to my first duty station in the USAF). Drinking with a group of shady looking dudes. One of them was already completely trashed. Talking shit to everyone around. General bad attitude, young, drunk guy. He had a real paranoia thing going on too. He accused me of being FBI, a cop, ICE…hall monitor, all sorts of shit. I tried just laughing it off. But he was insistent, wouldn’t shut the fuck up about it, and sat there giving me the evil eye all night long. Other than him, the rest of the group “seemed” OK. But anyway, I wasn’t biting, so he eventually got physical with a different dude. Bouncer tossed everyone at the table out, including me.

So we head to the parking lot and somehow they convinced me to get in a car, so we could head to their friend’s place and drink some more. No idea why I agreed to it, other than just feeling pressured/bullied into it.

Regardless, I was sitting there in a back seat, still in the parking lot of the bar. Attitude guy is next to me, still staring me down. More pissed than ever now, because we got kicked out.

I made some excuse that I had to run to my car to grab something real quick. Jumped in my car, and got the fuck out.

  15. Preorder the collectors edition for Fallout 76….. I cancelled like 2 days before it would have shipped.

  16. Almost moved to Colorado on a college transfer. I rented out the apartment and got accepted and everything. I would have been paying a fortune more and was by no means well enough in control of my mental health and prioritization skills to have made it work. I can’t remember why I didn’t follow through, but I am happy I didn’t.
