I have a best friend, let’s call him Jake, and we like doing shit together a lot and so usually when he’s invited to stuff, I’ve also been invited but lately I’ve just felt like I’m always the Luigi to his Mario or something. Like if he wasn’t there at the party, I wouldn’t have been invited or when people think of us they think Jake and u/DaddyShortPinata but never just Pinata. I love this man, we’ve been mates for over a decade now but I just don’t want to be his number two. We both have lots of friends, we’re very good at making them but because we’re around eachother a lot, there is also a lot of overlap within those friends and I’m scared that majority of those think I’m second to him.

Idk I just wanted to ramble a little bit and see if anyone had any advice on how I could I guess separate myself from him without obviously cutting him out?

  1. Maybe your friend has a really big personality. That’s why you always feel like you are second.

  2. Your friend is probably more effective in social skills and has perhaps created his distinctive niche. Thats why he looks like a different personality while you just his right hand. If you want to be treated like a different person probably try to create your own personality. And bro dont ruin your friendship for this.
