I will be travelling to NC from Ireland for about 8 days. Will be visiting family and will be out in the sticks with little access to Wi-Fi.

I would prefer e-sim instead so I can have it ready for use the second I land at RDU instead of going to Walmart or something for a physical sim.

I don’t really need minutes/texts, just unlimited data and I don’t care too much for 5G!

Thank you in advance for any recommendations! I can’t wait to visit, it’s been almost 10 years since I’ve been back!

  1. This is the best place to compare prepaid SIMs in the US, just check the eSIM box: https://prepaidcompare.net

There are three major mobile networks in the US: Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Virtually every SIM you find, regardless of brand, will use one of them or a combination.

All of them should have good coverage in urban areas. Rule of thumb is that Verizon has the best coverage in rural areas of the three, but if you know you’ll be out in the sticks, best to check the coverage maps to be sure for your specific situation.
