Does anyone still get this in their pizza or know places that still have it as a topping? You’d be hardpressed to find such a place but I’m curious of other’s experiences and whether or not other regions have it more than others.

  1. I definitely fuck with anchovies on pizza. I feel like the vast majority of pizza places have them.

  2. They’re usually canned or preserved in oil so they’re remarkably shelf stable. Most non-chains near me offer it

  5. Anchovies on pizza is one of things I’ve heard about ever since I was a kid, but never seem to find out in the wild. I like fish, and I like pizza. Seems they might be good together.

  6. Very normal option at family owned places, but not very popular with chains like Domino’s, etc.

    Even the chains like Papa John’s have them. Our local pizza place has them. I also have a shelf of King Oscar.

    If you like salty fish, give it a try at least once.

    I use anchovies in sauce a lot too. I have cans and paste stocked in the kitchen.

  9. I like it, but I haven’t had pizza with anchovies in years because I don’t get whole pies unless I’m with others. Anchovies are a divisive topping when getting pizza for a crowd, and I’ve never been to a by-the-slice place that sets out pizza with anchovies as a topping.

  12. I can get anchovy pizza everywhere in NYC. I like black olive + anchovy as a combo personally. Maybe not as much as sausage + pepper but high on my list.

  14. I like It, but usually they’re so salty it overpowers everything else.

    If you can manage to maximize the anchovie:pizza ratio in each bite it’s pretty good, though.

  15. I never think to order it, but I love a Caesar salad dressing and that has anchovies in it so I might like a pizza with anchovies. They’re an option at my closest pizza place.

  17. I love them on a pizza. My favorite toppings for a pizza is double banana peppers, garlic, anchovies and pepperoni.

    Most places in my area offer it – though they do run out because they don’t budget for many requests.
    It’s also an optional ingredient in antipasto.

  21. I always order ‘choves on the side. Round Table (which based on your flair I’m guessing you may have heard of) has them. I think Mountain Mikes does, too. Most small places will also have them.

  24. Just checked 8 pizza places by me, 7 had them. The only person I’ve ever known to eat anchovies on pizza is my dad, though. And it’s been a long time.
