We are in a big and diverse world with tons of things to talk about. We also live very different lives, value different things, and spend money and time very differently. What do you do when you find yourself in an extended conversation where everyone talks about something you are not interested in or have much experience of. A good example of this is say football for example. Do you just stay quiet the whole time?

  1. I would listen here and there what’s going on with the conversation and I laugh when they all laugh

  2. Sometimes being interesting is about taking an interest in something others are interested about…even if you are actually not interested. So asking questions is a good place

  3. Zone out or listen trying to learn something or getting some understanding about the people.

If you want to chip in, then could try using a quip or asking questions about stuff.
