Queens, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan, The Bronx? And I’m pretty sure at least one of them has a different official name.
Why yes I can.
Yup.
No, I’ve never even been to NY.
Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan.
Let’s see… Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx. I think that’s all.
Nope. I got 3 before checking the other answers in this thread. The others were familiar but I don’t know that I would have come up with them on my own even given more time.
Yes. There are only 5 of them. It’s hard to be unfamiliar with them because, well, it’s New York.
I think Staten Island is the one most people forget if they don’t know them all.
Yes
Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Staten Island. NYC is so ingrained in pop culture I’d be surprised if most Americans didn’t know. Maybe they would miss Staten Island?
Having lived in NYC multiple times, yes.
I’ll do one better.
Manhattan (New York County)
Bronx (Bronx County)
Queens (Queens County)
Brooklyn (Kings County)
Staten Island (Richmond County)
Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Jersey City.
Staten Island can go sit in the corner and think about what it’s done. /s
Bronx, Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn.
I had to look up the last one (Manhattan). I wanted to say Harlem, but I knew that was wrong.
It’s kind of like the seven dwarfs. I know them all but Im sure I’ll forget one.
I always forget The Bronx, it sounds almost made up.
Of course. I can make corresponding county names too.
Queens borough = Queens County
Bronx Borough = Bronx County
Manhattan Borough = New York County
Staten Island = Richmond County
Brooklyn Borough = Kings County
Yes. Mainly because of Beastie Boys lyrics and pop culture.
Yes. I live so close, how could I not know
Fun fact, the original Five Burroughs were viking settlements in England back in the 800s

Yeah easily.
Yes, I can. I won’t bother though because everyone else did already.
Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island.
Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, the Bronx, Brooklyn.
I think so:
1. Manhattan
2. Queens
3. Brooklyn
4. Bronx
5. Staten Island
Yes, but then again I lived there shortly so I have an advantage knowing them.
There’s only five, and I live in one of them.
It’s like when a bar trivia question asks about Fifth Ave or something – the whole bar erupts in laughter.
[I agree with this comment about Staten Island, but wonder what we’ve done to get Jersey City as a replacement](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskAnAmerican/comments/uj19w0/without_looking_it_up_can_you_name_all_the_nyc/i7g1o0q/)
Manhattan, queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx , Staten island, long island. Edit after reading thread, long island doesn’t fit the question.
No.
I know Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens.
No but I’m not a NY native (never even been) and I can name a lot of them just because of media.
Well, yeah. But I cheat by living in NYC. 🙂
LA here. Probably not. I’m sure I’ve heard of them all, and can probably name a few, but I’m probably going to forget one or two and maybe name one or two that don’t count.
