Men of Reddit: What made you realize they were better suited as just a friend?

  1. Her ex was an electrician and had just come out of prison for selling meth, she invited him over while i wasn’t there to come fix her cameras, i told her that i’m not okay with that she said i was being dramatic. so she went from being a gf to friend very quickly.

  2. When she said she only fucks black guys with at least 10″. “Queen of spades” she called herself.

  3. We were best friends for years before we started dating. We just kind of realized over time that we weren’t as happy dating as we’d been when we were just friends, so after we got over our anxiety and fear of hurting the other’s feelings and ruining everything and actually opened our mouths, we took like a week of being no-contact and then went back to being best friends again.

  4. Met this girl my first day of a new job. She walked in the room for a staff meeting and it was like time slowed down and Hootie and the Blowfish stared playing in my head. She was so beautiful. Six months later we were sharing an office together and her and I got to know each other. We talked for hours while working. Even once we all went remote for Covid she’d call me and we’d spend hours on the phone just chatting and bouncing ideas off each other while we worked.

But as I got to know her I realized that, while I’m very physically attracted to her, I’m not the kind of guy she’s looking for and she’s not the kind of girl I’m looking for. I think we’d make each other miserable if we ever got together. But she’s still the closest friend I have in this town and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.

  5. She wanted everything to move really quickly and demanded I not be so busy. She wanted visits multiple times a week. Constant texting. Wanted to introduce me to family. Called me her boyfriend. We’d been out on one date. That was a very quick “we’re better as friends” conversation because she, was fucking mental.

  6. When getting a response took hours, even a day, yet she was online posting or sharing stories.

    Baffling.

She was the one who asked if we should give a relationship a try.

Am I supposed to just sit here and casually enjoy getting ignored? What’s the thinking here?

  7. She was the most innocent sheltered woman I had ever met in my life that I (and all the men in my social group)immediately placed her in a sort of little sister zone. Now my mates and I just look out for her and hope she finds a guy who will treat her right.

  8. She was really into drinking wine. I don’t drink, and I don’t like being around people that drink a lot.
