Looking for inspiration to commit myself to the grind and enjoy the process. Asta from Black Clover comes to mind, but apart from main characters what are some other ones ( like Rock Lee)?

Also any characters that portray a good philosophy.

  1. He’s not anime exactly, but Kiryu Kazuma is a video game protagonist who is a masculine ideal

  2. Fang Yuan from RI

I volunteer every week and donate 90 percent of my salary after reading RI

  3. >Asta from Black Clover comes to mind

He’s basically a Naruto clone (no justu). Narutos journey from outcast to Hokage is an inspiration to all

GTO is a good role model who teaches lots of life lessons. He was a ganster but reformed to a teacher

Kenichi is a good protagonist as he doesn’t have any special power or destiny his only ability is that he doesn’t quit and pushes through the pain. He literally starts off from walking in the first episode to MMA legend.

MC from Holyland manga was tired of getting bullied so he teaches himself boxing and begins a journey of finding strength

After living a life of killing in war times Kenshin reforms and becomes a pacifist with a no killing rule. Seeing his search for peace and struggle to keep his new code while demons from his past try to crush it is dope. His stoicism is unmatched.

Yearning to make friends and perform live with a band, lonely and socially anxious Hitori “Bocchi” Gotou devotes her time to playing the guitar. She pushes through the anxiety to reach her goals.

haikyuu is filled with characters trying to push to the top. An underdog team aims to win Volleyball championship

  4. Deku. He’s might cry a lot, but he’s legitimately trying to be a good hero that the world can look up to. Plus, he’s the definition of hard work. No one at UA has fought harder or worked harder to master their abilities like Deku has. Dude is a legit inspiration.

  5. I don’t believe characters like Asta, Naruto, or (insert any short character who gets OP very quickly) is a good role model for real life. They lose my interest because they don’t represent real life to me. Im 38, firefight, EMT, military, and security. I’ve seen enough life to know nobody has ever really been one of these characters.

If you want an anime character to role model off, i’d suggest Koro-Sensei from Assassination Classroom.

  6. Vegeta

He’s more realistic than karkarot and is the underdog. Things just come naturally to goku but vegeta has to work hard and figure shit out. Goku also had blueprints for strength and techniques, vegeta didn’t have a teacher until way later in the series

  7. Yang Wenli from Legend of the Galactic Heroes. An alcoholic, but devoted to the cause despite the corruption and incompetence of his peers and leaders.

  8. Uh, there are none. Anime is for entertainment, it’s not for philosophy. Role models are real humans only.

  9. Edward Elric is mine.

Not for any ungodly amounts of strength or being overly muscular, he was just a dude trying to look after his brother and get his brother’s body back. The dude wasn’t invincible either, my man got his insides mangled by a pipe.

Both 2003 and Brotherhood were both series I needed at specific times to deal with traumatising shit and it’s one of the reasons I’m so in love with the series.

  10. Hajime from Arifureta. Had a bevy of women after him but chooses to remain loyal to one, and his goal in life is to just go home and play house with her. Simple man, simple needs.

  11. Guts from Berserk. Literally never gives up, missing an arm and an eye? No problem, I’ll still kill every last demon.

  12. I think zoro from one piece is a good role model, he works hard to get as powerful as he is and doesn’t let his defeats stop him and pushes him self to become stronger
