  1. During my summer holiday I barely looked at the stock market or my portfolio at all, and now that I’m back at work I’ve gotten back to those things too and it’s depressing. I like it when I see green numbers, but seeing red numbers makes me unhappy.

What makes me happy though is that as of yesterday my motorcycle has new brake pads. You can start to feel autumn in the air here, but there should still be good days left for riding this year.

Edit, more ramblings: I guess the guitar has made a comeback? Or is making one, at least. Maybe it’s Taylor Swift inspiring girls to pick up the instrument in the past decade, maybe it’s the ongoing Y2K nostalgia, but there is a ton more guitar driven songs being released these days. Talking about pop in particular. Like a decade ago when pop’s EDM era was in its peak people were talking about how the guitar is dead. Now the biggest new names are releasing 00s pop punk inspired bops and even the underground pop scene that was dominated by extravagant electronic productions only a couple years ago seems to be incorporating more and more of the electric guitar.

I guess I should have seen it coming, as that underground while lacking the sounds of a guitar did have the love for the Y2K aesthetic and many of the songs were very punk, in the same way that Spice Girls’ Wannabe is punk.

I’m not mad, guitar is my primary instrument after all. I’m a bit disappointed though that even with the more avant garde pop the sounds used are brought from the past. Maybe somebody will figure out a way to make the guitar sound fresh again, now that it is used more.
