Context: I live with my GF and her 3 kids (all under 10). I literally am a parent to them. I discipline them, I take them to school, I cook, I grocery shop, I clean, I split bills, I’ve been teaching them to ride their bikes, to swim, to tie their shoelaces.. anything and everything that comes with being a parent I do. This is my GF’s first queer relationship. Before she was with a guy who didn’t do shit for her or the kids and still doesn’t. We’ve been together for 1 year and living together for about 9 months. She’s currently trying to gain full custody of the kids because the kids have two involved caring parental figures at our house and none at his.
Today, I was dropping her back to work after picking her up for lunch, we were talking about what kind of woman she’d be into if we ever broke up, it was a really lighthearted/funny conversation.. and then she said being with a woman is so different than being with a man, in my head I was smiling thinking it must be so much better now that she has all this support and affection and companionship she never had before, instead, she said that being with a guy is so easy, and compared me to her ex who she claimed didn’t complain about anything.. and she went on to say that she’d never be with another woman again and said it was because being with a woman is “too much work” and she 100% would not do it again. She was late for work and I didn’t really respond, she hopped out we kissed bye and I left. I’ll be picking her up again later (because I told her to sell her car so she could have some savings and we can share mine for the foreseeable future).
She said it all really nonchalantly, but it really hurt my feelings… I’m not sure what to do, am I being too sensitive? And I guess that’s exactly why she wouldn’t want to be with a woman.. cause a man probably wouldn’t even have been hurt by that. Which makes me not want to say anything at all. I feel stuck.
TD;LR: My GF said she’d never be with a woman after me because its so hard compared to being with a man and used her ex as an example.
