Hello, everyone!

I need some help, I have been donating items I don’t use or wear to the charity and it had been successful but now due to everything unfolding and money becoming tight, I thought it would be great time to getting into start selling stuff in exchange for money back.

I did research — came across Vinted, Depop, Facebook Marketplace and Ebay.

The only issue is that I have a hard time buying things online lately etc: being scammed, getting items not being what I wanted, unable to get refund back from it even though it is faulty.

Over the years, I was strongly put off with anything that got something to do with online spending or selling.

I now came to realise, things are difficult to do today with technology and online becoming the new normality.

I live in a small community with small centre near me (just a five or ten minute walk down) that usually do sell essentials in exchange for money as I remembered they don’t do clothes or shoes apart from large collection of watches.

I got some clothes and jeans I want to sell but seem ridiculously hard to do unless it is online yet I don’t have enough money to do the parcels and delivery as all items I got are goddamn heavy.

I wouldn’t mind doing a meet up with someone to deliver the items in between and get cash in hand and go separate ways.

What should I do? Is there’s anyway around online selling and do it in real time?

  1. I usually sell thought Facebook Marketplace and also join local Buy/Sell/Swap groups, just type your location and some should come up.

  2. I buy and sell on Vinted regularly and have yet to be scammed. Shipping is tracked in the app, and Vinted hold the money, so a buyer can’t say they haven’t received and scam back the payment.

Its very easy to list, the shpping system allows you to create labels at home and drop off at a parcel shop or locker, it’s very straightforward.

There’s a sub were you can get advice about getting started and ansk questions you may have.

  3. If you want to try selling things online I think vinted is the easiest. If you are worried about being scammed maybe start with cheaper items until you are confident in what you are doing. Also always keep things in the app. Most of these apps have good protections (for both buyer and seller) in place but if you start messaging outside of the app you lose that protection. Lots of scammers will ask you to pay outside “to avoid fees”, if they do just block them.
