I passed in 2019 so hold a UK Auto license, I now would like to learn manual but am struggling to find information on correct insurance.
When I try to get learner insurance, their websites say I must hold a provisional licence. When I go to DVSA, it says I can’t get a provisional licence as I already hold a valid UK driving licence. When I speak to my insurance, they say I can’t be covered in a manual with normal insurance as I’ve only got an Auto licence. I feel like I’ve fallen into a grey area trap and can’t legally insure myself to learn in my partners manual car.
We’ve a baby on the way and want to get rid of the Auto so we can both drive the manual as its got enough seats for the bigger family.
I can’t find any advice anywhere on the Internet or find out who might insure someone in my situation. Please, can someone advise me?

Your insurance websites are wrong. You hold a full auto licence and a provisional manual licence, the fact they’re physically the same card doesn’t matter. You also hold a provisional motorbike licence, for comparison.
Have you tried putting your full licence number into gocompare or similar for a manual car?
