Met someone for a drink (with plans to maybe hook up after) and in person the attraction just wasn’t there. I paid, said goodnight and went home. They said they had a great time and hoped we could see each other again. What’s a polite way to say “no thanks, not interested in hooking up”?

  1. Perhaps something along the lines of, “Thanks, I had a nice time, too, but I don’t think we clicked the right way.”

You kind of answered your own question: be polite (but that doesn’t mean you have to go forward with something you don’t want to.

  2. Say thank you for a lovely evening, you enjoyed getting to know them, but for you there wasn’t the connection that you are looking for. Wish them well, and that’s all there is to it.
