Long story short we had a great time together, but I had to leave for a family thing and kinda ended it rather abruptly, asking if she had a good time to which she said she did, and then saying we should hang out again. We then shook hands and left.
Was that too abrupt?

I think saying “we should hang out again” is a good way to end a date if you’re interested in her. Just don’t wait too long to follow up! Also a handshake is a bit odd, but not bad. Personally I like a hug more than a handshake but some people might not want to hug.
