u/mronion82’s [thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskAnAmerican/comments/16biy3y/do_americans_carry_around_their_car_insurance/) got me wondering
Mine has:
Vehicle registration
Insurance card
Car lighter
Owners manual
Spare fuses
Charging cables
$40 cash
Gloves (unbelievable I know but in the summer my steering wheel can get searing hot)

So. Many. Paper Napkins.
* Registration
* Insurance
* A notebook that I was supposed to keep updated every time I took my car in for maintenance, but haven’t in probably five years
* A pen for the notebook
Some spare cash, insurance, manual, a flashlight and some matches. Plus some random pile of documentation not useful for anything but that I don’t know what else to do with.
I have a fair bit more than that in the cars, just not in the glovebox.
I have no idea. I usually keep a CD or two in there, sunglasses, and the owners manual. My ex GF stuffed it full of who the hell knows what now. I’m afraid to look in there.
Owners manual, spare fuses, receipts from oil changes & tires, some expired registration & insurance cards, a few hand tools, and an old touch-up paint bottle that’s likely no good now.
Registration, proof of insurance, owner’s manual.
Advil, flashlight, a couple of emergency tampons for the wife, ice scraper, and lots and lots of napkins.
Car manual, insurance card, photocopy of driver’s license, registration, and a blank sheet of paper and a pencil, and an index card I keep maintenance records on (mileage at oil change and last tire rotation)
And that’s about it.
Insurance card
Maintenance logbook
Small tool kit
AAA and AA batteries
Flashlight
Napkins
I took out the owners manual because it took up a lot of space and all the info is in my phone
I have various supplies I keep throughout the car, but not much in the glove compartment itself. Registration, insurance, and most recent inspection, plus the car’s manual and a tire pressure gauge.
My glove drawer is my junk drawer…
Owners manual and a folder with receipts from all service work I’ve had done (oil changes, new tires).
Registration
Owners manual
Wheel key
Copy of last state inspection report
Window breaking tool
Spare plastic utensils, napkins, a zipper pouch with pens, Taco Bell sauce packs (only in cooler months), a clean microfiber cloth, 100ft of sisal twine, & various sizes of zip ties, both plastic and metal.
Only offiical docs like insurance, registration, and a few receipts from work done.
Anything else (my glass breaker/seatbelt cutter, my flashlight, my screwdriver, my pepper spray, etc) either goes into my center console or the drivers side door compartment.
Parking tickets, stale hard candy, a multitool, and a lot of dust.
Well my car is brand new, so right now I only have my vehicle registration, insurance card, manual and a script to get blood work done. But I usually also have every piece of paperwork of car repairs I’ve had on the car and a guide to change a spare tire, as well.
Now as far and the other compartments in the car.. that’s where I keep everything you could think of.
Registration and proof of insurance, owner’s manual, a tire pressure gauge, advil, a pad of paper, pens, probably napkins
I’m realizing I should start keeping napkins in my glove compartment like a real American.
Registration, owners manual, flashlight & tire pressure gauge
Flashlight, owners manual, registration/insurance
Old pair of prescription glasses, assorted gift cards, phone charger, cheap flashlight
Bottom glove box: Registration, insurance information, owners manual, paper napkins, ketchup packets, and a bottle of liquid Sucralose/stevia for sweetening tea from a drive thru.
Top glove box: sunglasses for the wife, ice scraper, usb phone charger, and collapsible dog bowl.
Lockable center console: 9mm pistol, 2 extra mags, gloves, neck gaiter, and beanie.
A lot of things that were already listed, along with two nice tourniquets. In the US, we have a separate first aid program called “Stop the Bleed” that teaches people how to use tourniquets, pack wounds, etc. Highly recommend.
Thankfully haven’t used them for traffic accidents, but it’s good to have them just in case.
In addition to the usual stuff, I also have some bulbs for the lights just in case.
Registration, Insurance, Manual.
Glock 20 and eye drops. I keep stuff cops want in my center console
Birds of North America Guidebook… and the one for flowers, and the one for trees. National Parks Pass and NP Passport book. Owner’s manual. Tire gauge. Some pressed flowers. A tiny flashlight. Some stickers.
I have more important stuff in my center console and my registration and insurance are on my phone.
Whelp, I’m hopefully getting my license finally at the end of the month so here’s what I’ll keep in there.
Registration, insurance, owners manual, tissues, napkins, pens, and a little first aid kit.
Fellow epileptic Americans, manifest that I stay seizure free until my drivers test 🤪
Admin and legal paperwork, a multitool, a portable blue tooth speaker because my phones aux cord port doesn’t work.
