Only snap villages please, not towns or cities!

  1. Lots of options in Italy.

Though sometimes not easy to differentiate between a village and a small town!

Of the most famous ones,I think Manarola in the Cinque Terre is very beautiful…too many tourists for me, but objectively it’s stunning!

I prefer less touristed places.Sovana in Tuscany, for example.Or Savoca here in Sicily.

Civita di Bagnoregio in Lazio is absolutely spectacular, though it’s barely even a village these days!

  2. Bad Neuenahr is really pretty. Spa town, so lots of good hotels around too, and in the middle of wine country.

  3. Well I am biased but I do think all Mediterranean countries really excell in this.

The villages in the Greek islands especially are of unparalleled beauty. Some of my favourites are in the islands Serifos, Sifnos, Kimolos, Amorgos, Astypalaia, Patmos, Nisyros, Symi, Kastelorizo.

Outside Greece I really loved the villages in Portugal, the best one probably being Obidos.

In Italy of course there are the super famous ones like Cinque terre and the lake Como ones. They are beautiful but really touristy. I am sure there are many others of similar beauty that aren’t well known though.
