I (TransM) recently tried to have PIV sex, with the emphasis on tried.

It all went quite well, we were having fun (at least I hope he also had fun), but when we tried to actually penetrate it started to hurt a lot. Like, an electric, stinging sharp jolt of pain every-time he went deeper. There was also quite a lot of blood, but I don’t know if the amount was normal or not.

I’ve used sex toys to penetrate myself in the past before, and had no issue with it. There was blood the first time I used those as well, as I suppose it was the biological factor of the hymen breaking. But I can’t seem to figure out if it just wasn’t fully broken or not? Maybe? Is that even possible?

We tried to loosen me up with a toy, which went smooth and flawless like usually. But when we went to try penetration again it went painful again. He was able to go slightly deeper, but the sharp jolt and pain was back again. There was also more blood that time.

Did we do something wrong? Is it normal?
And more importantly, how do we make it go more smoothly?

Thanks in advance,

  1. Was this the first time you’ve had sex? It’s normal…if it keeps happening, you’re going to want to follow up with your obgyn.

  2. I’m a little fuzzy on the specifics of this but we’re you using enough lube? I’ve heard trans guys can have issues with their body’s “natural” lubrication partially due to side effects of testosterone.(I could be completely off base; I’m not a doctor. I’ve just played with trans men before.)

  3. There shouldn’t be a lot of blood. If it is actually the hymen its on the outer part, the depth shouldnt play in to it. I would have a talk with a gynecologist.
