1. Stick to the basics. “Hey what’s up, how have you been?”

2. What’s the context? Do you want to be friends? Are you interested in them? Do you ever talk to them or just “Hi” and walk away? Where do you guys see each other? School, work, just live near each other? Age differences? Gender?

   I don’t need all the information but I do need some. But if you want me to shoot blindly “Hey, it’s been a minute since we’ve talked! How have you been?” or “Hi, I know we don’t talk much but I’ve been trying to expand my social circle and I thought of you! How have you been?” should work fine.
