Yesterday, I saw a woman while shopping here in San Francisco [with an orange handbag.](https://www.olend.net/cdn/shop/files/000023350004_2048x2048.jpg?v=1695134921)

I said “excuse me, I think your bag is so cute! Where is it from?”

She was German lady and she showed me the tag Ölend Backpacks and let me take a picture. I said “willkommen” (since she was visiting) and let her get back to shopping.

Is this kind of casual compliment weird where you live? Or is it very normal to talk to people you don’t know?

  1. It’s not really normal outside of the nightlife maybe, but it wouldn’t weird me out.

The “decidedly not normal” thing is sharing your entire life story/just having super long conversations with strangers in the grocery store or whatever.
