Hello,
My mum mentioned she wanted to go on a plane experience where you are a passenger in a 2 person air craft (just you and the pilot) which does a does a sharp vertical acceleration then drop very quickly. For the life of me I can’t remember what it’s called, it’s not a standard ‘learn to fly’ experience or anything like that, I know the experience exists as I spoke to a company offering a couple years ago but can’t remember what its called. Any suggestions?

Aerobatics? I did one of these at Coventry Airport.
Sounds like a crash. Just so you know, those are non-refundable.
A two seater prop aircraft, if it flies vertically it will eventually (not long probably) stall and then fall back towards earth, obviously. Providing the engine is still running the pilot can regain speed thusfore regaining control again of the aircraft.
At a guess, I dunno, I’d maybe call it a stall dive, stall turn maybe?
Google L39 aviation, based in blackpool you can fly some fighter jets there. Not sure about the pricing and stuff but you see the Jets looping around blackpool fairly often
Eg: https://migflug.com/flights-prices/l-39-albatros-in-switzerland/ ?
“Sporty climbing and vertical diving” is listed as a maneuver.
Edit: Or I guess she could be talking about stall turns in an aerobatic prop aircraft, though that is probably not quite as exciting.
Someone did that over my house once (ish… it was probably over a field really) and I fully shat my pants. I was all set to call 999 when the plane went back to horizontal and off they flew. I had no idea it was a thing.
NASA do a thing they call a vomit comet to simulate weightlessness
It’s a stall turn.
Source – I’ve done a few.
Sounds like the [vomit comet](https://www.gozerog.com/), the aircraft that gives you a weightless experience.
if you want rapid acceleration, a winch launched glider will give you a sudden acceleration and ascent, and the top of the launch, where the cable is released, feels like a bit of a jolt.
Otherwise, ask the pilot to demonstrate a stall. Make sure you are on an air experience flight, and not the 9:30 Easyjet from Luton to malaga.
Sounds like she wants a fighter jet, aerobatics, or stunt flying “experience”.
