I have a question that I always wonder about. So not to do with actual apologies, but you know when someone says they’re sick or something and you feel bad for them? I want to say something to express my empathy, but I don’t know what to say other than “I’m sorry you’re sick” or something. But I don’t like that–I didn’t cause that! What’s another normal-ish way to say this?? (Because I feel like saying “I empathize with your suffering” kind of works but isn’t a naturally-flowing way to say something). Thank you!!

  1. * “That’s a lot to deal with.”
    * “You probably feel a little stressed out…I know *I* would be!”
    * “That’s some pretty heavy stuff.”
    * “Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Let me know if you want to talk about it!”
    * “So sorry you’re dealing with that, I hope things turn around for you.”
