This is such a minor thing but it’s been eating me all day.

So I got a new remote job and today we had to go in for this big meeting so this was the first time meeting my coworkers in person. I was very nervous initially but it ended up being mostly fine except when the meeting ended and everyone was talking about random work stuff while I was just standing there.

I felt so awkward so I quietly left to go back upstairs where my bag was and get my stuff. I come back down and everyone is GONE. And I was like god I wonder if it looked like I just immediately ran out of the building when the meeting ended. I messaged my manager saying sorry I didn’t say goodbye but I’m beating myself up for running out of that conference room like that without even trying to say anything. I could have literally said anything I hate how normal social skills are so counterintuitive to me.

  1. Well, the meeting was over, so they probably thought you had to go toilet or had other things to do. I’m sure no one will have noticed, you didn’t do anything wrong even if they had.

  2. Irrelevant. Theres a thousand good reasons to leave a bit earlier. Don’t stress yourself so much, the meeting was over anyways and someone always needs to be the first to leave. Phone call, toilet, next meeting etc.
