Weird to follow someone on Instagram to get to know them?

I know for sure I’m overthinking this, but that’s just who I am.

I kinda like this girl I’ve seen around on campus but haven’t had a proper moment to introduce myself, I see her rarely between classes or she’s leaving a party as I’m just getting there. I’ve learned a little bit about her through a few mutual friends we have posting things, and I wish I had a better way of introducing myself.

Would it be strange to get her attention by just following her without knowing her too well? I wouldn’t do it typically but I know a few of her good friends. People have done it to me in the past and I’ve thought nothing of it, but is it a good first move?
