Spaniard here. We’re having a garden paella here in a small town in northern Spain and there is a local celebration that we can hear from our backyard. The song is “Country Roads”. It was completely random because it came after a bunch of typical Spanish songs, and I said, “well, this may be the most American song ever”. Now I’m thinking if you’d agree and which others would deserve to be at the top as well.

Repost because of typo in the title of previous post.

  1. Joke (well, 50/50) answer: America Fuck Yeah!

More serious: Born in the USA, American Girl, Sweet Home Alabama

  2. Like to represent us as a country? All of the music on Enclave Radio in Fallout 3 that plays in between President Eden’s speeches.

  3. Country Roads is a good one, sure. Rocky Mountain High also if we’re sticking with John Denver.

  4. These threads never include enough rap, the most American of all music forms. The Message by Grandmaster Flash is my entry.

  5. Seven Nation Army is probably the best known American song of the last 20 years.

People don’t really associate with “America” though. I’ve even had a few Europeans try to tell me the song was from Europe.

  6. Country Roads and Deep in the Heart of Texas!

These are probably the most American songs I can think of!
