I’m facing a dilemma with a long-time friend and I’m in need of some guidance. We’ve been buddies for around 12 years, and he’s tying the knot next week, with me serving as one of his groomsmen. However, I’ve noticed some worrisome behavior from him recently that has me questioning the future of our friendship.

Primarily, he appears to be quite insecure and emotionally volatile, particularly when it comes to handling his emotions within relationships. While it’s not an everyday occurrence, there have been instances where he and his fiancée engage in minor conflicts. It’s worth noting that these disagreements don’t always happen during our phone conversations, but they have occurred a few times recently.

What troubles me most are the snide remarks he makes during these situations. He places the blame on me for instigating these minor disputes and even insinuates that I will be the cause of their eventual separation. He insists that I should refrain from involving myself in their family matters, accusing me of stirring up trouble within his household.

Now, it’s important to mention that he often speaks without considering the impact of his words, and some of his comments may not hold intentional meaning. However, I’m the kind of person who pays close attention to verbal cues, as I believe that words carry significance, whether consciously intended or not.

Given his behavior, I find myself contemplating whether it’s time to sever ties with this friendship. He doesn’t possess much sentimentality or tenderness, so I worry that discussing my concerns with him would prove futile, potentially highlighting my sensitivity in an unfavorable light.

I would greatly appreciate your perspective on this matter. Personally, I find it challenging to tolerate passive-aggressive remarks, but I’m open to hearing different viewpoints and seeking advice on how to navigate this situation.

Thank you in advance for your insights!
