What are your experiences with tankless water heaters ?

1. Have one in my house. Dig it. It was here when I bought the place so I can’t comment on the energy savings but it takes my shower next to no time to get hot.

2. One would stop working for some reason and all I could get was cold water out of it before it was serviced, then issue would repeat in a few weeks

   Another was perfectly fine

   I prefer regular water heaters

3. I lived in some places that had the water element in the shower head, that shit heated up immediately, didn’t waste energy when not in use, and I didn’t even die

4. I have no me and love it I can’t imagine going back to a tank and (worrying about) running out of hot water. The water doesn’t come out hot instantly, but once it starts flowing, it never runs out. We’ve had zero issues with it after 4 or 5 years

5. They work well. They’re also very noisy. Be strategic in where you place one.

6. Only if you have gas. If you have electric than it’s a big NO.

8. No direct experience for myself, so take this for what it’s worth. From plumbers I’ve spoken to about it, gas is better than electric, BUT it matters what your water is like. If you have hard water, then be careful about it because it can cause durability issues.

10. I shower outside with a propane tankless and it’s amazing. I wouldn’t ever go back to a traditional tank style electric water heater.

11. Never have used one, but depending on water needs and quality of how it works. Should be fine over all.

12. You won’t get very big water pressure at a higher temp cause it needs time to heat the water on the way to the shower head.

13. I have had one for almost twenty years and love it. Back to back showers with multiple kids and it keeps going. It does not affect water pressure as far as I’ve ever seen. Simultaneous use from multiple points will drop pressure but that is more of a function of the pipe capacity of the house. It needs servicing every couple of years. And it does make noise while running. It’s not loud or annoying just a soft humm.

14. Love it, would never go back to an ugly bigass tank.
