Friendship ended over a discord server.

I had this friend from my physics class, we were friends but not close.

Alex (not real name) i made him the VP for this society I was making, and he asked for one of his friends to be secretary, this society was about grand strategy games, and in reality it was just a Stellaris discord server.

I gave him it because he seemed career driven and I thought it would be nice to put on our CVs that we were all part of a committee. Plus making it a proper society I thought would be some fun.

I had some friends from a neighbouring university, and get got the grand strategy players from that one to join, so we had more people to play with.

All was going good for around 6 months until 3 weeks ago.

He sent me a message over discord saying he dislikes how the society is run he thinks it’s like a dictatorship and he gave 13 demands for he and his friend would “resign”

He never described how it was like a dictatorship, plus those words are a little extreme for a 30 person discord server. We hadn’t banned anymore or deleted any messages or anything. Everything was going smooth.

His main problem was that we had people from another university in our discord, and a few of them had admin, this was just to add emojis and sound board things, it was never an issue. But I gave in and removed admin from them, despite them not doing anything wrong.

I did show him that we are allowed other people on our discord, but he didn’t lesson.

It got to the point where he was raging how we were breaking the rules, and I said that if I get a email from the students union about it I will change it, and I also offered that we can speak to Mike the guy who runs the student union about it.

He then Resigned with his friend, he then went and tried to talk bad about me to the gaming society, this head the president of the gaming society to assault me while I was with some friends at the board game society.

I offered to make him the president of the society, if he would just stop, and everything go back to normal. But he seemed to take that as a sign of weakness from me and insulted me.

I’m really annoyed I tried doing a nice thing for someone, and he ruined it for us all. I can’t go to the gaming or board game society now, I’ve opened a harassment case on the president of gaming and idk what to do.

I was just trying to be kind to him, he took this society thing way to seriously. I’m starting to think he never really valued me.
