So there is a festival on in my village, mainly aimed for kids, but my cousins are coming and they are kids and my mum said we should go to it.
However I’m sure there will be people there that I know (including girls) which I know will make me embarrassed and I just want to avoid that.
How do I persuade my family not to go?

I think you need to dig into your own discomfort instead of trying to change your whole family’s plans.
You can just not go without forcing your family to change plans
you’re being selfish.
Let them go and say you’re not feeling up to it.
Normal awkward kids stuff. Just go.
