So I (24F) have been dating this guy(26M) for about a month, and basically, he was my first, there was a condom slip accident, and on top of that I just found out I have an infection that was, according to my doctor, most likely carried by him.

I really like this guy and was starting to consider a serious relationship with him, but I’m torn. I get the condom thing being an accident, but an infection??? From what I understood he hasn’t been sexually active in a good while, and I get the possibility of him not having symptoms and passing it on to me without knowing, but it’s still a shitty situation I didn’t want to be in.

Yes, I am taking the medication I was prescribed, and yes, I am taking all the precautions, I just don’t know how to navigate this situation emotionally speaking, so any kind of advice would be very appreciated

Udate: I told him to get tested, he refused to accept the possibility of him being the one that gave me the infection and then tried to gaslight me into thinking I was overreacting over the situation. Needless to say, I cut off contact completely

  1. Depending on the STI, he may carry it for a long time and never have symptoms. It doesn’t mean he was unfaithful to you. Clarify it with your doctor.

  2. Ask him to get tested and see how he reacts. At 26 he should know better than to expose you to something from a previous partner.
