That Hannibal Lector quote sounds very “memento mori” which is a philosophy I’ve embraced for a while now.

I like playing games competitvely, but I have never been good at them. It can be really really frustrating.
The “Bad Guy Affirmation” from Wreck-It Ralph” has been surprisingly helpful in this regard.

Not sure it entirely fits, and I know it is stupid, but it really one of those stupid things which has helped me to overcome negative self-perception, as I can focus more on why I got into this in the first place; enjoyment of the game itself.
