Before I ever even had my first kiss or even touched a guy, I had cold sores, and the doctors say that it is herpes, which can be caught by simply sharing a drink with someone. Now I’m terrified I will have flare ups and potentially get someone else sick. Or worst have someone get me accidentally sick too.

How do you date with peace of mind?

  1. You can always get regular STD testing and require a clean panel of any partner you sleep with for peace of mind. As well as having conversations around your expectations about sexual health.

I’m guessing you are on the younger side. You should always be discussing sexual health with new partners before intimacy and it’s perfectly acceptable to set and enforce boundaries (I.e. I don’t sleep with anyone before I see a copy of recent STD results, I don’t sleep with anyone without a condom, I don’t sleep with anyone who has other sexual partners, etc.) If someone can’t respect your boundaries, they aren’t someone worth your time in the first place!
