Hi Americans! Aussie and looking to go over to America next year to see a metal/pop punk/rock kind of festival.
I’ve Google what appear to be your ‘best’ so festivals like – Aftershock, Rockville etc. But figured a reddit community probably has better answers.
Artists/bands would be similar to – Lamb Of God, Blink 182, Sum 41, Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember.
Doesn’t have to he those bands but that’s the kind of music I’d be looking for.

Aftershock in Sacramento is still considered one of the best for metal/hardrock/whatever.
Riotfest in Chicago usually has a great and diverse line-up.
sick new world just dropped their lineup for [2024](https://www.stereogum.com/2238492/nu-metal-fest-sick-new-world-announces-2024-lineup/news/)

Are you planning on visiting a specific time of year? Or does that not matter and your trip will revolve around the festival you decide to attend?
I used to tour around but since “retired”. Veil of Maya, After the Burial, Born of Osiris etc. in that vein of Metalcore.
A couple festivals in mind, but regardless of what time you visit, you can catch multiple shows by planning a few stops and catching your favorite bands as well.
I don’t think a 2024 edition has been announced yet (the 2023 one is later this month), but based on some of the bands you mentioned you might be interested in the [When We Were Young Festival](https://www.whenwewereyoungfestival.com).
Gates of Metal happens soon in the Los Angeles area. Though I imagine you will miss that.
Also, while not in America but I must suggest M’era Luna in Hildesheim, Germany. It has always been amazing. It’s not all metal and alternative in the classic sense, it is mostly goth and industrial based, but metal has been prominently featured along with hybrid style bands. There tend to be about 25,000 attendees and I can’t wait to go in August next year.
But if you’ll be in the US in August, the flight is much shorter than from Australia!

One of these things is not like the other XD
There’s always a big Aussie presence at The Fest in Gainesville, FL every year. It’s primarily punk rock and adjacent alternative genres and it’s a TON OF FUN!
