What was your “I hate to say it but they’re right” moment?

  1. When I got divorced and started dating, I didn’t want anything physical or serious. I’d go out with a woman a couple times, we’d build blanket forts and try new cocktail places and all the obnoxious restaurants that charged $50 for a small plate that left you stopping at Waffle House on the way home. My sisters said that wasn’t how it worked. I was like “sure it is, they know not to expect anything, I was very clear”. It ends up except for a couple notable exceptions, they were correct and I was incorrect.

  2. “Go to college right after HS, you won’t remember all you learned in a few years.”

Me: pfft I just spent 12 years learning this stuff, I’m sure I’ll never forget, even if I tried.

Also me: wtf is geometry and how do I reduce both side of an algebra question to find the value of X…?

  3. When the obnoxious “wokewashing” culture war BS got around to the Netflix Cleopatra. Like… Goddamn, they’re constantly trying to claim that every brown person or woman in fiction is “historically inaccurate,” and Netflix just fucking *handed* them a actual historical Caucasian being cast as black, giving them the exact ammunition and example they needed to prop up their “white erasure” horseshit.

  4. When my sister said, “You go to the soup kitchen because you are a cheapskate, homeless people do it because they are hungry.”

  5. I used to be a Reagan style conservative and then I visited Switzerland.

Yeah it’s pretty much better than North America in every single respect. Thought it was just isolated to that one country but then I visited Germany and came to the same conclusion. Then I moved to a city (Montreal) that was highly walkable and had a robust public transit system with a high degree of unionization in the labour force.

Lost weight, learned a new language, dated better women (as in they were better human beings), saw the world from a non-English point of view.

    Conservatism ruined the Anglosphere.

Edit: A bunch of conservatives got a bit salty at me for portraying their ideology as one of cuntieness and incompetence. Let’s just end the political stuff here. You’re obviously never going to agree with me and I view most of you “people” in the same light as actual filth. We can respectfully hate each other without turning this board into a shitshow like you have multiple countries around the world.

  6. My brother realised my ex was toxic before I did. Took me another eight months to figure that out.

  7. My dad; enjoy school while you still can. Later on you have to work, day in day out.
