So I am lucky enough to really enjoy a coworker I work with for a retail job. I can be shy and have trouble opening up but it’s getting better with age.

Anyway, in my opinion, I am blown away how easy it is to be myself with this coworker. We laugh all the time, talk about everything from our family lives, to our interests, to the store, and to big picture things.

I want to take this friendship outside of work but I can’t figure out how. We’re both early 20s, out of college, and in transitional phases in life. I know he has a lot of friends but they aren’t local.

I have texted him relevant memes or asked if he wants to practice music together (something we’d talked about) via text with no response. But he always acts like we’re buddies in person. (Also I think he used to be interested in me and tried to hang out then before he knew I had a boyfriend so he must enjoy my presence enough to hang out?)

Should I ask him to hang out in person? If so, how? Should I just take take his lack of texts back as a rejection already?
