What are best and worst states for night life?

  1. It’s not something that makes sense to ask at a state level. Ask about cities. NYC and Las Vegas are known to be good. Boston, not so much.

  2. States are very big places. Ely is terrible for nightlife, but Las Vegas seems to draw people in. Manhattan is great but Geneseo’s bar scene is pretty limited. Maybe focus on cities for something this specific.

  3. Anxiety is perhaps one of the worst, Drunkenness is a good one until it’s not. Awe? Being in a state of awe seems like a fun way to be at night.

  4. What kind of night life? Up in the mountains I see or hear all kinds of life at night. A vixen mating call, now that’s one that’ll scare the city slickers.

  5. Kind of weird to do it by State, by City would make more sense.

    But if you’re going to go by State, NJ is probably hard to beat. It’s small and the most densely populated; near NYC and Philly and the entire stretch of the shore is full of bars and clubs etc.

  6. Best: NY because of NYC

    Worst: Probably Wyoming or Utah, WY’s largest city has like 300k people but Utah is also super religious so I imagine they’re about equal.

  7. Wisconsin has probably one of the best, Madison, Green Bay, La Crosse good college/sports towns. Door county, Bayfield, Minocqua more touristy/local pubs and supper clubs. Then you have Hurley which is pretty much built on bar/night life. Milwaukee has a pretty good club scene. Wisconsin has a little bit of everything.

    *edit- Forgot to mention Wisconsin Dells another really fun town.

  8. As others have said, it’s more reasonable to look at cities. Here’s what comes to mind:

    * New York City, New York
    * Miami, Florida
    * Los Angeles, California

  9. First: As several people have said, this is not a good question on a state level. Iowa, for example, is probably not the place you think of for partying till the wee hours. But head to the Quad Cities or Iowa City and it’s a different story. New York is probably an immediate thought because of NYC, but Cold Springs is probably a sleepy town.

    Second: It also comes down to size. Many (most) US states are as large as EU countries. Asking what country is best and worst for nightlife would be a bit silly.

    Finally: What becomes more important is what nightlife means to you. Country bars? Honkytonks? Goth? EDM? Iowa has *college* party towns, but couldn’t compare to Louisiana for drinking and dancing. NY has a ton of dance clubs, but is lacking in Honky Tonks compared to Texas…

  10. It depends on your definition of good. Loud drunk partying? Nevada, Texas, Florida. Stargazing? Wyoming, Hawaii, and Alaska.

  11. Worst, states that have a small population density. Best, states that have a high population density

  12. It’s hard because every country has different law and allowances about night life you should ask for city

  13. As an NYC party guy who travels for work, the worst cities to party in are…
    Harrisburg PA
    Manchester NH
    Flint MI
    Chattanooga TN
    St George UT

  14. Like everyone else said, states are too big to really answer that question. Las Vegas and New York are probably each one of the most active cities in the world for night life but you could be 7 hours away from Las Vegas and still in the same state.

    But honestly it’s hard to even really say what’s the “best” for night life. Las Vegas, NYC and Miami probably have the most bars and clubs with flashy lights and vip tables and sparklers in the champagne bottles. But personally I’d rather just hang out at a bar with a few pool tables and cheap drinks and people you can actually talk to. Like Vegas is cool as a tourist but I have a few friends who live there and they don’t really experience it the same.

  15. Alaska has to have the worst nightlife, right? It doesn’t even get nighttime like 4 months of the year ^/s
