33YOM from USA, thinking of having this procedure next year, mainly to touch up my hairline. What should I be considering? I’ve heard good things about going to Turkey and staying at a resort where they do this type of thing without many complications. But I also hear they’re getting better and cheaper in the USA. It is painful? How’s the recovery? Do you like the results?

Thanks

  1. * The first time I had a procedure done was in 2015 for part of my hairline, which costed ~$7200. This year’s procedure costed ~10K because I had more work done.
    * Depending on how much you want done, it could take a long time. A few months ago, I had both my hairline and crown worked on, and it took about 14 hours total. I had to show up to the office at 7AM.
    * During the procedure, you will often be given shots in order to numb you. If you’re afraid of shots, prepare yourself.
    * During the procedure, they let you watch whatever you want on cable/streaming. You could watch TV shows, movies, etc., and you could even search for music.
    * They’ll provide you with a complementary lunch. There’s a sandwich shop near the Bosley that I visited, and that’s where they offered me lunch from.
    * After the procedure, you’re not supposed to touch the recipient area at all for 2 weeks. After about 3 days, you can gently rinse it, and gently apply the shampoo they provide you. They also will provide various medications for things such as pain and preventing infections.
    * You won’t see noticeable results until at least 6 months after the procedure, so patience is key.
    * Around a year or so after the surgery, you’ll be asked to return to the office for a follow-up.
    * It’s not a bad idea to track your own hair regrowth journey by taking pics of your hair each month, so you can look back on your progress later.

  2. Im considering it for the hairline as well. As it becomes more normalized I’m sure the procedure and docs abilities to do them are improving rapidly.

The “he man” club in Reddit will attack you for thinking about it though haha.

  3. Go to Turkey and get it done. It would be cheaper for flights, accommodation and the procedure (plus a holiday while you’re there) than to get it done in your own country (mine being Australia).
