For me it’s Paul Merson and Phil Tufnell. As a kid I would always get these two confused, still don’t have a clue but when I see one I still think of the other person as well. Think I was just a moron as a child

Edit: Seeing that everyone confused people has made me feel a lot less like a moron, cheers

  1. Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock. Tbh not just when young either. If you showed me a picture of one of them and asked me who it is I reckon there’s a 50% chance I’d get it wrong.

  2. Meryl Streep and Glenn Close. Not helped by the fact that I can usually only remember one of their names at any given moment.

  3. Bob Dylan and David Bowie.

I guess because they were my Dad’s two favourites, and the BD-DB thing.

I knew from an early age their music was in no way similar and neither do they look anything alike. But I’d often confuse the two.

  4. Cary Grant and Gregory Peck.

    Katherine Parkinson and Diane Morgan.

    Eddie Brickell and Nathalie Merchant.

  5. Natalie Portman and Kiera Knightly when I watched Phantom Menace as a kid, and to this day I still don’t know which is which.

  6. Madonna and Kylie. Whenever either of their songs are on the radio, I have to ask which one it is.

  7. Les Dennis and Keith Chegwin. I remember hearing about Chegwin’s death and being sad that there would be no more Family Fortunes.

  8. A friend of mine used to confuse Nigella Lawson with Ainsley Harriot. Still none the wiser as to how.

  9. Bit niche, but Sunderland had Michael Gray, Phil Gray and Martin Gray all play in the same squad at the same time.

I just assumed they were all brothers.

  10. Tony Robinson and Rowan Atkinson.

Can’t explain it but somehow the combo of Blackadder / Mr Bean / Maid Marion and Her Merry Men fused something in my brain and I can’t always trust that I’ve correctly remembered which one of them I saw in something.

  11. I clearly didn’t pay attention to first names and only realised recently that Will Ferrell and Colin Farrell are two different people.

Which explained why only half his films were good.

  12. Cliff Richard and Clint Eastwood lol. No idea why guess the names are a bit similar. “We’re all going on a summer holiday…punk”

  13. Piers Morgan and David Walliams. I think it’s because David replaced him on britains got talent and I didn’t even notice, I just thought it was the same guy all along.

  14. Can’t believe no one’s said Bradley Walsh and Brian Connelly yet, still get confused now.

Also just the names rather than the faces. It I always get Hugh Jackman and Gene Hackman mixed up

  15. Not a visual confusion but you would not believe how long it took me to realise that Terry Wogan didn’t present on Radio 2 from early morning until nearly lunch time. As an adult I know Ken Bruce has a Scottish accent and Terry very much didn’t…but kid me in the school holidays often thought “wow, this guy is putting in some hours,”

    I can’t explain it.

  16. I don’t quite know how to explain this, but when I was a child in the 80s I used to think Nicholas Witchell was Gordon from Thomas the Tank Engine. I was terrified of them both.
