European brands in America?

1. European economy cars that aren’t Volkswagen aren’t super common in the US. American trucks aren’t really found in Europe.

   In general, there’s a lot more East Asian and Latin American stuff available in the US and a lot more Middle Eastern stuff in Europe.

   The entire aisle of Mexican and Texan salsas that you can get at a grocery store near me definitely don’t exist in Europe, for example.

   There’s a much larger range of beer and liquor for sale in the US, with European stores usually having more different European wines.

   I know nothing about clothes, so I will let somebody else take that.

2. This is an incredibly broad topic that is almost impossible to have a useful conversation about.

   Not only that, but there are countless brands that are under the same large umbrella, but are called branded as something else across the pond.

3. When I lived in France, they had tomato flavor potato chips. There are also a lot of really good chocolates from different countries in Europe. I don’t remember all the names of them.

5. Is Jack Wolfskin still a big thing in Europe? A friend of mine brought one back, maybe ten years ago, and he said it was like the North Face of Germany. I had literally never heard of them before.

   As for American things rare in Europe, not so much a brand specifically, but our pickup trucks. All the big US auto makers make pickup trucks, and people can be fiercely tribal about them. My understanding is that they’re pretty much unheard of in Europe, even though the manufacturers sell other vehicles over there.

6. Most European beers, with a few notable exceptions, aren’t sold in the US unless they’re owned by Inbev.

   Someone already mentioned Jack Wolfskin, although I’ve seen their hiking boots is US stores.

   Renault, Citroen, Peugot, Seat, Skoda, Daccia, Vauxhall, Opel and Lada have no presence in the US.

   C & A also doesn’t have any of the US market, although H&M occupies the same niche.

   Virtually every US supermarket carries Haribo products.

   Altoids are ubiquitous, as are Ritter Sport, Ferero Rocha, and Lindt. Milka is less widespread, but not hard to find.

   Addidas and Puma are everywhere.

7. Well that depends.

   For example with Cars, there is one that I wish had more imports, for example the Lada 2107’s those things are fucking cool!

8. Nestle is a Swiss company that we often get blamed for.

9. I only know of what is available in America. Hard question but off the top of my head… Amazon, Walmart, Costco?

   I’m not sure if its available in Europe.

10. Solovair shoes and boots.

    I dont think I have ever seen them sold in any retail store here in the US

11. Most of them?

    I can’t think of any European brands that I buy or see on any kind of regular basis…

12. Opel/Vauxhall. It’s is or was a GM brand that’s sold under other names here.

13. There are a lot of European car companies which don’t have a presence in the US that I would like to see. Like, I really want to drive a Renault.

16. I guess I’m thinking if a Euro brand isn’t common here then probably a lot of us haven’t heard of it to comment.

17. Nestle is Swiss I believe and it’s pretty popular.
