My family and I recently hosted a small get-together. A few peeps that I didn’t know were also invited and I tried conversing with them but it was quite unsuccessful. And this pattern stretches to any new interaction I have. I try to overcompensate for the lack of familiarity by talking too much while the other person seemingly doesn’t talk at all. How can I make new interactions less awkward?

  1. Ask people questions and listen to their answers. Generally, people like people who are interested in them.
