So in past few years, I notice that I tend to spit while talking. I don’t see it flying, but people wipe their faces when almost immediately after I speak, especially if I stand a bit close to them.

I already tried speaking slower, placing my tongue at the top of the mouth in relaxed position, but nothing seem to work. My teeth do not have any gaps.

I used to struggle a lot with social anxiety, now that I am on medication, it’s a lot better, but this issue really hinders my progress.

Has anyone had this issue with this before? How can it be solved?

  1. I don’t think this is a social skill as much as it is a medical issue. Stand further away from people when you talk, and try directing your face slightly angled away from them while still making eye contact. And ask your doctor about it because they will be able to decide if it’s necessary for you to see a speech therapist who can help you modify the way you speak so you don’t spit on people.
