Hi folks,
I recently moved from Germany and holding couple thousand euros in cash. The exchange rate is terrible here in UK so i dint exchanged it to GBP yet.

Can someone help me what are my options with bare minimum exchange rate loss.

Can i open international account with my UK bank and deposit euro cash into bank physically?
So that i can use transfer wise to move around the euros or convert it to GBP.
Any other way around?

  1. Get a Wise account ([www.wise.co.uk](https://www.wise.co.uk)). You can then have a bank account detail for Germany and transfer into that, then for very little price, transfer it to a UK account. This will help you in the future too.

    And they pay interest.

  2. Starling, Monzo and Revolut all give you the interbank exchange rate.

Starling will let you pay cash into a Post Office.

  3. Question is asked a dozen times a month on /r/ukpersonalfinance so search that sub for more details.

TLDR: Open a HSBC or Barclays Personal Currency account, deposit Euros, transfer to Wise, convert to Pounds, transfer to UK GBP account.
