  1. I just noticed there is a long weekend coming. I have completely forgotten and as such haven’t planned anything. Not to mention that I will be working anyways. Do you guys get a day off this month?

Is anyone going to do something for Halloween? The last Halloween party I went to was at my flat during my PhD. I was so brutally drunk and it took me so long to clean up afterwards, I decided I Halloweened enough for the rest of my life.

  2. I don’t know if you all are familiar with NPR’s Tiny Desk concerts, but yesterday they uploaded one with Nile Rodgers, of Chic fame. They played Chic classics and songs Nile Rodgers wrote for other people. I mean, Freak Out, Diana Ross’ I’m Coming Out, We Are Family by Sister Sledge, Daft Punk’s Get Lucky, Good Times, and David Bowie’s Let’s Dance.

What a setlist, and they sound so great. Nile Rodgers was one of the people who made me start playing guitar as a teenager, love his guitar work. And he has produced so many great bangers. Absolute legend. Do yourself a favour and spend your Friday [jamming to this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRERgcQe-fQ). 30 minutes of great vibes.

Also, I love it that during Get Lucky they do this little vocoder solo and the guy on the vocoder throws in bits of other Daft Punk songs from Homework and Discovery. It’s so great to see those albums get respected like that. Like, Nile Rodgers is of the era Daft Punk sampled their French house from. And now Nile Rodgers is playing Daft Punk. So beautiful. And Nile Rodgers rapping Sugarhill Gang’s Rapper’s Delight during Good Times too. Such a great set.
