I have been a blazers fan my whole life. But now routing for the bucks

  1. My NFL team trading for a QB who’s a known sexual assaulter. Lately I’ve just been hopping on and off regional bandwagons.

  2. We were a Lions family when I was a kid, but then my Dad worked for a guy who had Buccaneers season tickets who let us use the seats when he couldn’t make it to a game.

  3. I’ll always love the nets, but now I live closer to San Antonio and they got wemby soooooo Go Spurs Go!

  4. I’m one of those multi-team people that Reddit hates, was a Rams fan after the Greatest Show on Turf but couldn’t stomach them going back to LA and my local team was the Broncos but they got sold to Walton heirs and I can’t support that. Now I’m just a “Whoever is playing the Seahawks, 9ers, Raiders or Chiefs” fan. I also always root for the Lions because they’re horrible, but have historically generally likeable players unlike the Browns. MLB I support the Rockies because they’re a local team and they’re owned by Colorado locals. If they sell I don’t know what I’ll do.

  5. I don’t think I ever switch, but I will add teams based on where I live. Grew up an avid Flyers fan, moved to Michigan, and now I try to catch a Red Wings game whenever I can.

  6. In most of the world, you stick with your team. I’ve never changed teams and I never will.

  7. I don’t think I can ever love another sports team. I’m fond of some teams that play in the cities I’ve lived, but my hometown teams are my teams.

They just all suck fuckin ass and when that happens I don’t watch them or the sport. Chicago sports baby

  8. I don’t think I can see myself rooting for other teams. I just make sure I follow as many of my hometown/close to hometown teams as possible. One of them are bound to be good and if none are, that’s ok because my favorite sport is MMA and fights are always happening

  9. Grew up a Dallas Cowboys fan.

After years of watching a delusional old man think he’s the greatest GM in the world I couldn’t take it anymore and just quit rooting for them.

I only watch NFL because I still play fantasy. But that’s only because I am in a league with my co-workers and it’s a lot of fun.

  10. Grew up in NC, got into hockey and naturally became a Carolina Hurricanes fan. Moved to South Florida, where Florida Panthers sucked at the time and had terrible attendance so I was able to buy season tickets for $380 total. Started going a couple of times a week. Over seven years they slowly won me over. Panthers fan ever since even though I don’t live in Florida anymore.

  11. Never switch teams, no matter what, I’ve moved to different areas, had different ups and downs, had teams that sucked for decades. The only dishonorable move as a sports fan is changing teams.

  12. Wtf is it normal for Americans to change their teams in American football? Football in the UK you’re born supporting the team where you’re from/ your family supports and it stays that way until you die

  13. I follow all Minnesota sports teams. But I moved to Chicago when I was a young warthog and fell in love with the Cubs. Still enjoy the Twins and have fond memories of going to the metrodome.

But there is nothing like being at Wrigley Field.

  14. I could see if the team moves cities. Not because they suck, though. I’ve become casual“fans” of other good teams. Like in the 90’s I was a MJ/bulls fan. They were fun as shit to watch. I didn’t buy their Merch or root for them when they played my team, though.

  15. I’m not a fan of the team, but I know a lot of people that have had issues over the years with the Blackhawks. Dollar Bill Wirtz’s death was practically celebrated. A lot of fans are questioning since the Kyle Beach situation has come to light. Rocky Wirtz died earlier this year, so there’s some optimism heading forward.

  16. You broke one of the biggest rules of being a man. You do not switch teams. You ride or die with your team forever through the good and bad. It makes winning it all that much better.

You are a fraud. Boo this man. I hope the Bucks lose now because you do not deserve joy for being a bandwagoner. I don’t expect every redditor to understand this mindset but you know deep down you are a Benedict Arnold and deserve this scolding.

  17. This is an acquaintance. He was a huge KC Chiefs fan in the 80s, 90s and 00s. He started bitching how the Chiefs are just getting 49ers scraps (Quarterbacks). And to be honest he had a point. Once KC signed Alex Smith, he said “F*ck it” I’ll just go to the source. He became a 49ers fans.

Last time I checked he was still a 49ers fan.

  18. The San Diego Chargers left San Diego to go to LA because they wanted more profit and couldn’t do that in a “small market town”. California’s major cities have a sort of sibling rivalry, and it comes out in sports mostly. The Padres, Dodgers (FTD), and Giants are all great. And I cannot for the life of me imagine one of them leaving their fans. The Chargers front office acted in bad faith during a new stadium deal; they gave an ultimatum where the residents of San Diego pay for the stadium and they’ll consider staying. The City capitulated and they still left for LA. The LA Chargers’ owners and administration are cheap bastards and aren’t even the best team in the city they moved to. They bet they could make the move and keep San Diego fans coming back for more. People are diverse, so I’m sure there are some locals who still cheer for them and buy their shit, but I never will. They spit on my hometown and asked me to foot the bill.

  19. Here in Mexico, if you are not a casual fan you dont change teams, you can change wife, you can change sex, but never your team.

  20. I grew up a Braves fan and Falcons fan, but in the NBA, I absolutely loved the Charlotte Hornets as a kid and teen. I idolized Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson. Loved that team so much…and continued supporting them while also some what liking the Hawks.

2002, they moved to New Orleans, and i threw in the towel and became a full on Hawks fan at that point. There was zero chance I was supporting a team from New Orleans, and the move made it easy to give up on them.

When they eventually became the charlotte hornets again, I keep up with them a bit, but I’m fully invested in the Hawks now and won’t be swapping back.

  21. There are only a few reasons I’d switch:

I moved and intend on making my new city my permanent home.

I got a job with the new team.

The team I’m abandoning signed a known degenerate scumbag like Deshaun Watson or Josh Leuke.

  22. Don’t change sports team. You pick what ruined your dads weekends and let it ruin yours

  23. I grew up a Philadelphia Eagles fan but lived in downtown Buffalo for around 2 years (2017-2019) and the Bills Mafia sucked me in.

I still root for the Eagles but the Bills are #1.

  24. I didnt switch, but I do root for multiple now.

Reason is I moved across country. My original team plays 3 hours later than me, so it’s mostly after 10pm and I’m old and like to sleep at 11.

I’ll root for my local team now because I can catch their games. However, if my original team is on at a normal time I’m all over that.

  25. Nothing. People that do* are called fair-weather fans. I’ve been a Detroit Lions fan my whole life. If anyone had a reason to switch teams, it would be a Lions fan.

*I would accept people switching teams as not being fair-weather if the team itself has done something horrible, like Paterno turning a blind eye, or that sort of thing.

  26. I’ve never even considered doing this. There are teams I like more than others but I’d never just give up on my cities team

  27. My friend said they had prettier colors and he was right.

I miss the simplicity of preschool.

  28. Moving to a new city. I like to take on the home teams as my teams. Gets me connected deeper to my new home

  29. The only sport I follow is F1. In F1, it’s more common to follow a certain driver rather than a team. So for most people, they’re rooting for whatever team has their favorite driver.

  30. I find loyalty to sports teams endearing, but at the end of the day it’s just an entertainment product, it’s not that important, and the billionaire owners don’t deserve your loyalty.

Sports teams are like wagons. If the team becomes boring or sucks, just get off their wagon and get on a more enjoyable one!

  31. Years back, l moved from San Diego to San Francisco,l attended a 49’s game, at that time they were suffering a long losing streak, nevertheless, the stadium would fill to peak capacity, were talking a windy, cold, miserable weather Bay Area. This impressed me how the S.F. fans were still loyal to a losing franchise, in the following weeks my S.D. Chargers sent the entire front line to S.F. 49’s as part of a trade. Only thing Chargers had going was there front line. Needless to say l became a S.F. 49’s fan attending games weekly, all of a sudden they began to go o a winning streak. Ending the season with the first of several consecutive visit to the Super Bowl. It was the Joe Montana, Dan Merino matchup of Quarterbacks at Super Bowl took place at Sanford Stadium l know cause it was my first of several Super Bowls l would attend as a S.F. 49’s fan.

  32. Nothing, nothing could make switch. My team was been the lowest of the lows and most recently highest of the highs. I’ve been cheering them since birth and will never quit. Fair weather fans and bandwagon fans the worst. And as always, Fuck the raiders!
