I have found myself reusing alot of lunchmeat containers, coffee tins etc. That being said what common items in american grocery stores have good containers

  1. Those Danish butter cookie tins. I have them filled with junk all over the house. And I reuse others for when I bake my own cookies.

  2. Most of anything that comes in a glass jar. I specifically buy those because the jars just tend to come in handy for me. Like the marinara jars.

  3. Lunch meat for sure, I have lunch meat containers I use as Tupperware that lasts about as long as real Tupperware. I just don’t microwave it.

All non-styrofoam takeout containers in my house get saved lol.

  4. The plastic containers that you get in Chinese take out restaurants are very useful. We send food to people in those.

  5. lunch meat, hands down. We try to buy the same brand/size most of the time so the lids always match the containers.

  6. Talenti gelato containers are almost great, with their screw-on lids. Their one shortcoming is that they melt in the dishwasher.

  7. Country Crock butter tubs.

Not only do they make great storage containers, if you buy one of those small, round crock pots, a frozen Country Crock “brick” of leftover soup, chili, or stew will fit into it perfectly.

  8. I was drinking whiskey and cocktails from a set of rocks glasses for years before I realized that they were from Glade candles my wife buys.

  9. Deli containers are good. They’re reusable, the lids are all the same size, and they come in different measurements so they can be used to measure out pints, quarts, etc.

  10. The jars that pickled asparagus and pickled bean salads come in at Costco are great because they are big and the lids are wide. I hate it when jars have a narrow opening.

I use these jars to store things like dry beans and rice.

  11. Danish cookie tins are world renowned for doubling as sewing tins.

We use empty coffee tins for used diabetic needles.

Any plastic container that has Chinese food take out in it gets reused.

  12. These little Costco chocolate mousse cups are glass and fit a tea light perfect. You can put cute little candles everywhere

  13. Bonne Maman jam jars are a good size and easy to clean.

We usually have at least one lunch meat container living a second life as leftover storage.

  14. Oui by Yoplait yogurt jars, made from glass. They don’t have any lids but you can buy or probably 3D print a new lid.

  15. Costco has a lot of products that come in amazing containers. Giant jars, little shot glasses, sturdy boxes.

  16. Bonne Maman jelly jars. We never toss those. They’re absolutely great for sending home leftover chili with our kids, and they also work very well for storing prepped ingredients for later use, especially odoriferous ones like diced onions.

  17. When I buy Kozy Shack Rice Pudding, my wife gets genuinely confused why the container is not filled with recently shredded pecorino romano.

  18. Those large plastic cat litter containers. Basically a ~5 gallon bucket that is usually best used for… scooping used cat litter back into.

  19. Growing up, I thought “Chock Full O Nuts” (coffee in a black and yellow tin) was a brand of hardware screws. We had a bunch of the tins in the garage and that’s what was in them.
