  1. Last night my partner and I broke the strictest unwritten Italian law.

Actually we do it quite often when we travel. We try a pizza in another country and see how it compares to home.

But generally we choose a pizza with toppings that we think we’ll like! This time we went for the Swedish speciality…pizza with ham, bananas and curry powder.

And strangely it was actually…pretty good!

  2. After promising myself to not buy any more art supplies, I literally dreamed yesterday that I had 16k Euros that I was only allowed to spend on art supplies and concerts… Till the end of the year.

Brain, can we not do this?

It’s sunny now, but I saw that the weekend is supposed to be rainy. There are also storms and stuff everywhere. I can’t be imagining that there have been a lot of storms and floods (and forest fires) this year. Need to check the statistics.

  3. I see the Automod’s been brought in line now?

Today an opossum randomly appeared in the middle of the lab campus. Opossums are nocturnal animals so you don’t ever get to see them during the day, but it seemed injured and half-starved and probably a bit confused as well. Security got called to deal with the situation, promptly looked at it, tried to tempt it with a bottle of water, took a few pictures and then decided they had better things to do and left it to its own devices.

How are people dealing with Ciaran?

  4. It’s that time of the year again: wondering if there will be proper skiing conditions in the south-westernmost part of the country all winter. There are just a couple of patches of snow here and there, while Ivalo in the north has 28 cm of the stuff already. Well, winter is just starting.

One possible outcome is that maintained ski tracks are ok, but other terrain doesn’t have enough snow for skiing. I prefer skiing outside of the short, maintained ones as they tend to be crowded. My wider, deep snow skis have been gathering dust for a couple of years.

  5. The annual jazz festival in our city started yesterday with two free-to-enter gigs at this one nightclub. It was some sort of ”spotlight on German jazz” theme night. I has a great time, but they weren’t the best sets I’ve heard.

Saturday I’ll go back for more. First Camilla George, a Nigerian born British saxophonist who I’ve never heard of but they site Fela Kuti as an inspiration so let’s go baby, and then Marcus Strickland, an American saxophonist who I have heard of but aren’t that familiar with.

Also, fucking Victor Wembanyama jesus christ this man is an athlete. You know how people say they were born too late to explore the earth and too early to explore the universe? Well, we were born just in time to see the rise of the European basketball superstar.

  6. I’ve been recently thinking about how different the cityscape is from 10 years ago. Had you told me then that everybody would scooting around on electric scooters and seeing an [autonomous grocery delivery robot](https://imgur.com/a/9OAF7Xc) was an everyday occurance I would have said that sounds way too futuristic, no way.
