It’s basically the general American accent (sometimes called Midwest Neutral) that newscasters and the like try for. I didn’t hear anything regional.
The singer does something weird with his long “i” vowels, but I suspect it’s just a stylistic thing.
Franc Moody is an English band. Lots of singers (especially British) tend to lose their accent while singing, so this would just be a neutral American accent, if anything.
I hear a very slight Danny Zuko, New Jersey greaser type accent, but it’s very subtle.
It’s not.
A big chunk of the base American accent is using the vowel forms that project the best. So even singers with other speaking accents, like this band from the UK, can sound “american” just by making a conscious choice to project more while singing.
This may also play into why we’re often perceived as loud.
To me he sounds British with an American accent that is neutral. The long “I” sound is like nothing I’ve ever heard in the US. I’m in New York.
I don’t care about the accent, but that’s a groovy song! I’m adding it to my list.
