I’m (20F) just in case that’s relevant

I’ve barely been in a gym before and always feel so awkward bc I’m unfamiliar. I don’t work out much at all really but I booked a boxing class on Saturday because it sounds fun.

I get really nervous in new environments that I haven’t figured out the proper etiquette/social rules of yet. What SHOULD I do (in terms of how I act) in a boxing class? What shouldn’t I do?

  1. Use the Ray Lewis approach. Act like you’ve been there before. If you think you’ll be nervous, you’ll act nervous. Fake the confidence until you become confident.

Also, ask people for help. That’s an easy ice breaker and you’ll feel right at home eventually.

  2. It’s a class. Go early, tell the instructor you’re new. They’re there to guide you through it. You’ll be fine.
